Originally, Milton Prell opened the Club Bingo casino on the site in 1947. In 1951, he gathered former business partners to begin work on the Sahara, which was built on the land partially occupied by Club Bingo. Del E. Webb Construction Company built the Sahara, which opened on October 7, 1952, as the sixth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. It featured an African theme.

The Sands Hotel and Casino was a historic American hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, United States, that operated from 1952 to 1996. The Stardust opened on July 2, 1958, as the world's largest hotel. It had 1,065 rooms located across six motel structures, and included a 16,500 sq ft (1,530 m2) casino. The Fremont Hotel is located on 200 Fremont Street. It was designed by architect Wayne McAllister and opened on May 18, 1956, as the tallest building in the state of Nevada. The casino is located on what is commonly referred to as the four corners. These are the four main hotels that are located on the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Fremont Street. The four casinos making up the four corners are The Fremont, the Four Queens, the Golden Nugget, and Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel.

The Westward Ho opened in 1963. By 1997, it included 777 rooms, a 35,000 sq ft (3,300 m2) casino, and a 900-seat showroom. The Westward Ho closed on November 17, 2005, and was demolished several months later to make way for redevelopment plans which failed to materialize. Opened in 1950, the casino was built on the grounds of the Last Frontier Village of the Hotel Last Frontier, and was originally named the Golden Slipper Saloon and Gambling Hall. The owner originally wanted to call it the Silver Slipper, but there already was an existing establishment with that name. The problem was solved when that small operation was purchased and closed, and the Golden Slipper became the Silver Slipper. The casino was known for its rotating slipper that sat atop the casino.On April 30, 1968, the Silver Slipper was purchased by businessman Howard Hughes in his famous spending spree of buying Vegas properties, which included the Frontier next door.

"Casino Center" was a downtown branding effort that came and went in the 60s. 2nd Street was renamed "Casino Center Blvd" in the middle of this campaign. It was the first but not the last time downtown competed with the Strip for visitors. They also built a billboard sign along I-15 approaching Las Vegas, 1967 that read Downtown Casino Center → 10 Minutes. The name change has stood the test of time, as for that "Downtown Casino Center" sign, it was built by the same team who made the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. They first placed it near the site of the present-day Cosmo, then later moved it out to the highway. Unfortunately its now long gone.

Honest Johns was a small casino located on where the Bonanza Gift Shop is today on the Las Vegas, Strip in Winchester, Nevada. The hotel opened in 1960 as a liquor store, then reopened in 1972 as a casino, making it one of the first casinos in Las Vegas that originates as a store. The casino closed in 1978. This was only one of the three Honest John's Casinos in the Las Vegas area, one of which becoming Lady Luck in the 1970s.

Barbary Coast was a hotel and casino located between the Flamingo and Bally's on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The hotel was owned by Boyd Gaming and was built by Michael Gaughan in 1979. The hotel was closed to be renamed to Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon. The Barbary Coast was home of Drai's After Hours, a restaurant nightclub that is still open to this day.

On May 6, 1950 Benny Binion opened the Westerner. It was just west of the Pioneer Club on the site of the former Las Vegas Club which had moved down Fremont Street. In 1962 the Westerner became Club Bingo.

The hotel originally opened in 1970 as a Royal Inn, and also operated under the names Royal Americana Hotel and The Paddlewheel Hotel Casino before being purchased by Debbie Reynolds in 1992. After Reynolds sold the property in 1999, it was briefly owned by the World Wrestling Federation, and was then sold and remodeled as the Greek Isles. finally ending its days as the Clarion Hotel and Casino before being demolished in 2015
