Spot Obsessions Different design compared to my usual, but it still has a story behind it. I was obsessed with Dalmatian’s and the film 101 Dalmatian’s while growing up as a child, my family always hoped the obsession would go away, but even now in my 30s I still love the spotty pattern! I love the ridiculous tea party as well as the scene when they are playing croquet with flamingos and hedgehogs. I combined the two in this pattern and it just feels like a celebration of silliness.

Digital painting of two snowdrops, the first flowers each year in my garden. They grow in little groups and appear each year when the snow starts melting. For me they represent freshness, early spring, the end of winter, resistance, steadfastness, hope , beauty and tenderness.

I love the extremely silly tea party in Alice in Wonderland (my favorite book when I was growing up) as well as the scene when they are playing croquet with flamingos and hedgehogs. I combined the two in this pattern and it just feels like a celebration of magical whimsy.

3 March 2011 Lancashire NW England The same hedge bottom where these are located has snowdrops in flower much earlier this year - since 7 January. Are they wild? Snowdrops don't colonise by seeding except possibly in very mild conditions and so it is more likely that they were planted as bulbs at some point along this particular hedge bottom, beside a farm track, where they have been left to do their own thing. Their blooms should not be taken indoors, as it is said to bring bad luck and have been described as a 'Corpse in its shroud' An old wives tale? I don't know, but won't be tempting fate.
