Once Upon a Time in the West is a 1968 film directed by Sergio Leone. The original (Italian) title is C'era una volta il West . Sergio Leone, who with his content to the Dollarstrilogie a new phenomenon had given western , knew with this film a new, almost philosophical element to add to the western. Claudia Cardinale played the lead role. The film score is Ennio Morricone 's one of the best selling of all time.
