From my second trip to St Ives (Cornwall, UK) I awoke to find this view from the guest house where I was staying. The beach is Porth Mhor (big beach), which is popular with surfers as it faces the Atlantic and so gets long waves. They were already out there when I took the photo this painting is based on, but I chose to exclude them to focus on the scenery instead. The town is nestled in a dip on the right, casting long shadows. The lightouse in the background (Godrevy) is a feature of another of my paintings of the area. Painted in oil on 16x12 inch board
