Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour was an American restaurant parlor chain founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1963. It had a turn of the century vibe loosely based on the late 1800s/early 1900s with both the decor and employees looking (and speaking) the part. Farrell's was a hit with families, especially with the kids, as their very American menu was bolstered with countless soda and iced cream based deserts. It was very much a dining experience as specialty desserts like the Hot Fudge Volcano were ceremoniously carried in on a stretcher like tray carried between two servers, usually accompanied by a song, so between that and the player piano, Farrell's was not the place to go for a quiet bite to eat.

Osler began his career at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, before becoming the first professor of medicine (1889) at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, USA. In 1905 he became a professor at Oxford University, UK. Considered the father of modern medicine, he contributed towards reforms of medical education, founding the practice of residency where medical students received practical training in hospitals. Photographed in around 1903, probably at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

A replica of a vintage postcard from the early 1900s. This cute little witch postcard has not been retouched in anyway in order to preserve the old worn out feel of the original. Any signs of wear are part of the design.

Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17. Artwork of US and NASA astronaut Eugene Cernan (1934-2017) saluting the US flag (Lunar Flag Assembly) left on the Moon during the Apollo 17 mission. The flag had a horizontal strut to support it on the airless Moon. This mission, the last Apollo mission, landed in the Taurus-Littrow region of the Moon. Cernan's co-lander was US astronaut Harrison Schmitt. They explored the area for three days (11-14 December 1972). Cernan was the last person to walk on the Moon. His departing words were: 'we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17'.

Wreck of RMS Titanic. This is the bow section of the Titanic, the largest ocean liner of its day. It sank on 15 April 1912 after hitting an iceberg in the northern Atlantic. Over 1500 people died. The ship broke in two as it sank, with the bow and stern sections 600 metres apart. The wreckage was discovered on the seabed in 1985 at a depth of around 3.5 kilometres. This expedition to the wreck took place in June 2004, with this photograph taken by the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Hercules.
