The bright buildings and colourful reflections of Alesund waterfront, Norway

Ålesund is a town on the west coast of Norway known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904. The mountain is Mount Aksla with viewpoints at the top that can be reached by cable car or, if you're energetic, by climbing the 418 steps up the zigzag path to the top. Picture was taken on 3rd June 2023. The urban area is spread over several islands.

The Norwegian town of Alesund was largely destroyed by fire in 1904, after which the town was largely rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style of architecture some of which can be seen across these rooftops. The yellow building with the unsual domes is actually Aspøy school which was built in 1901.

Wooden buildings on the island of Hessa in the Alesund region of Norway are overlooked by snow topped majestic mountain ranges on other islands scattered around the Norwegian Coast. Wisps of clouds float around the mountain tops on a sunny day. Taken on 3rd June 2023
