By the late 1940s, Ben Cooper, Inc. was one of the largest and most prominent Halloween costume manufacturers in the United States.Its costumes were generally very thin fabric with a silk-screened image on the front that sold for less than $3. The company began selling its costumes through large retailers such as J. C. Penney, Sears, Woolworth's, and five-and-dime stores.Costumes often sold for $1.25 ($15 in 2021 dollars). At the time, the most popular costumes were traditional Halloween figures such as devils, ghosts, skeletons, and witches. In the 1950s, television characters such as Davy Crockett, Superman, and Zorro were more popular.

If you grew up in the 1960's to 1970's you probably had some Ben Cooper Halloween costumes. They were a staple on every Halloween!

One Eyed Jacks is a fictional brothel and casino on the 1991 television series TP by David Lynch and Mark Frost. It is located across the Canadian border in British Columbia. It is owned by Ben Horne and run by Blackie O'Reilly, the madame. Like the Black Lodge, it is filled with red curtains.

In October of 2021, Retro Supply Co. (maker of vintage-inspired digital brushes, textures, etc.) sponsored the #FrightFall drawing challenge. I took the opportunity to create images heavily inspired by classic/vintage Halloween art and decorations, but with my own twists (particularly with regard to color). This was the image I created for the prompt "BEN COOPER COSTUME".

I wrote alternate lyrics to Alan Menken & Glenn Slater's Galavant (the opening number of the first episode) then had fun writing it out in the title! Sorry that it's not technologically/artistically wonderful but I am still rather happy with it!
