Brydes Whale Magnets

A Bryde's whale (Gulf of Siam) sits in the distance standing upright in the water column, sifting plankton and small fish - an avid attraction for the birds.

Don't get the hump if you get 'blown-off' by your Western girlfriend in Thailand... just jump on a boat and head out to the 'Gulf of Siam' to spend time with the Whales... As long as you *respect the environment* whist you're there... connecting with nature, can often be - a "match made in heaven"...!

The true heavy weights of Thailand! Whilst land mammals grow to a maximum of 6 or so tons, the marine mammals due to being supported by water - can grow bigger - these, up to - a massive 25 metric tons!!! These gentle giants, truly are the heavy weight champions in the Gulf... but just like "Tyson" they are slowly but surely being "punched drunk" by pollution - in all its miserable monstrous forms... Have you heard the expression "Couldn't punch your way out of a paper bag...!? Well, these guys, when it comes to eating plastic, can't either... they are being "slowly knocked out" - KO'd! So we need to help them, and help them fast... before we lose these "Big Blue Champs"

Bryde's whales feed on a wide variety of fish, planktonic crustaceans, and cephalopods. Prey differs by location and season. In the Gulf of Siam, there is a fight for whoever can catch the anchovy. Small birds such as the tern dive bomb at the anchovies being scooped up by the large bryde's whales in the area... Competition for space although limited is still prevalent between the Whales and the fishing population of Thailand.

Considering how we communicate on Planet Earth... Maybe we should be ruled by the Whales... After all, with their complex large brains and their capacity to take only what they need, not degrade their environment, and cooperate passively within the Oceans... maybe they make much more sense of their environment than we do... and if we could connect with them just like Dr. Spock did - What would George and Gracie say...??? Do we need to start beaming Whales up...? Or should we be beaming ourselves UP...!!??? o.O With so many dumb ass elections going down globally - I really do wonder... >:O

How useful are these awesome creatures..? Well, because these big ocean animals are mammals, just like us... their respiratory system operates, just like ours does, but much much bigger... Their health is like a "huge ocean barometer" - they can tell us more about climate change and atmosphere, they feel the pressure of the weather, just like we do and besides this they also "breathe the atmosphere that we do" too... Their *"breathability"* is intrinsically linked to the state of the Planet and the state of our own health... Although they live in the seas and surrounding oceans, air pollution on land ultimately affects their day to day in the Ocean too... Levels of carbon monoxide and nitrous oxides from burning fossil fue...

A simple climate change design with the phrase "Save the Whales"

A gull swoops in to 'grab a tasty morsel' as a Bryde's Whale scoops up a mouthful 'dolly mixture' of fish and euphausiid. For all parties concerned it was indeed *a "good tern out!"* :-)

All of life is so *'interconnected.** We simply *can't afford to be losing any species at an accelerated rate...* loss of one, limits the other. Here' we see one of nature's food webs in action, species competing for *same prey items.* A combination of anchovy, herring, shrimp and baby crab. Small terns 'dip and dive' to pick off these tiny morsels as 'great behemoths' lunge from the sea to gulp and gather the very same fish. At this exact moment, one provides for another, a symbiotic relationship termed commensalism; whereby only one species benefits (the terns) - while the other is neither helped nor harmed...
