This is a watercolour and ink painting I created of the beautiful Angel Hill, in Bury St.Edmunds, England. It is a lovely view with a nostalgic feel. At the top of the hill sits the splendid Angel Hotel. The iconic hotel is a grade II listed building. It and was also a favourite retreat of Charles Dickens. He visited it several times and mentioned The Angel in his novel "Pickwick Papers".

Edmund was king of East Anglia during the 9th century, and put to death by the Vikings. His head was returned to his body by a faithful wolf, who protected his body until it could be buried. I took this picture of his statue outside the Cathedral at Bury St Edmunds. Saint Edmund is now the patron saint of wolves, pandemics, and victims of torture.

This was originally a painting I created of the Norman Tower at the end of Churchgate Street in Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk, England. It was a commission and was called "Tilley's Tower".
