Corncockle Magnets

Corn cockle in amongst poppies. Corn Cockle is now virtually extinct in the wild.

Corncockle ... if you believe the British newspapers, they're deadly. Never done me any harm in the years I've grown and collected the seeds from them. Scaremongering at its best. This is a Corncockle Flower with a soft green and blue background.

Don't be deceived by those clear blue skies. These poppies were taking a battering in high winds in North West England in June 2011 when the picture was taken. The Corncockle which can also be seen in there are far more sturdy. They opend up a few days later. Such a shame that the poppy only blooms for such a short period of time. Sony DSC-HX1

They're wildflowers, but the kind grown from seed bought from a store. Poppies, California Poppies Corncockle are the ones most visible at the time of year this was taken.
