Doom Metal Magnets

Named after the 1968 British horror film of the same name, Witchfinder General was a heavy metal band formed in Stourbridge, England in 1979. They were part of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) scene and have been cited as a major influence on the doom metal genre. Witchfinder General disbanded sometime in 1984 after two albums and three singles were released, amidst controversy of their sexually explicit album covers in the UK. The band's importance was acknowledged after they disbanded, though they did come back together for a third and final full-length album, Resurrected, in 2008.

Left Hand Path is the debut studio album by Swedish death metal band Entombed, released on June 4, 1990. In Western esotericism, the Left-Hand Path and Right-Hand Path are the dichotomy between two opposing approaches to magic, often seen as good and evil. The record is noted for defining the style of Swedish death metal by being the first studio album to feature the "buzzsaw" style guitar tone that would go on to become a staple for the regional scene. The tone was achieved using a heavily de-tuned setting (B tuning) combined with maxed-out HM-2 Heavy Metal and DS-1 Distortion pedals.
