Encaustic

Encaustic is process where you create your painting using layers of wax which are painted or poured onto the backing. This is a photograph of a recent abstract encaustic work I created mostly using a carve out and fill in technique. The black sections are torn pieces of one of my monoprints which have been embedded in the wax.

Encaustic art is art created with wax.

For this work I took a photograph of my Stairway to the Sun encaustic painting and then I digitally play around with it to create this pattern.

This beautiful texture was inspired by different ethnic ornaments, Portuguese and Moroccan tiles, traditional oriental arabesques, classic Arabic shapes and elements from antique vitrage window. Geometric forms emphasize old and vintage look, whereas shades of vibrant and strong colors (purple, violet and orange) bring feelings of passion and joy into design. Azulejo looking pattern will look great on every surface!

This work started out as a textural encaustic piece (wax painting) which I was just never happy with. I took a photograph of it and then digitally re-coloured and altered it to create this image, which I thought would look good on some of the fashion clothing and home decor products.

This is an encaustic work that I created that has been photographed and digitally altered.

This is a pattern created digitally from a photograph I took of one of my encaustic (wax) paintings. The original wax painting had a couple of leaves embedded into the wax and was done in the colours you see at the change of season from summer to autumn, when there are still some green leaves on trees, mixed with other autumn shades of red and yellow.
