One of the three ruined Windmills on the hill above the village of Nimborio on the Greek Island of Halki (Chalki) and beyond it the mountains of Rhodes. On the Greek Island of Halki (Chalki), there are many ruined houses like this one. The Islands population has declined from 4000 to just about 300 over the course of the last 50 years or so. What remains of the population has mostly moved to Nimborio, the only remaining village on the Island. Many stones from the abandoned houses have been used to build the houses of Nimborio. Tourism is thriving in Halki and many of the abandoned houses are being rebuilt to aid the tourist boom. Chorio, the old capital of Halki (Chalki), with 4,000 inhabitants in its heyday, is now deserted and mostly in ruins. Built around the hill upon which the remains of the Kastro stands (the castle of the Medieval Knights of St John), the town was built in a position concealed from view from the sea, and high above the initial maraudings of pirates. On August 14th, the population ascends to Chorio for the Festival of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, when the beautiful Church of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) is opened, and the church hall is full, with feasting and dancing. The church has a number of beautiful frescoes that make it a major tourist attraction.

This is an alternate ending to Medusa's legend where she manages to slay Persius and eventually, struck by vengeance and grief, decides to unleash her wrath on all of ancient Greece. The legend of Medusa is a tragic one as she is often misunderstood because of her curse, and shunned as a monster and a witch. Though her curse is something she laments she has found it useful in defending herself of any "hero" that would attempt to slay her.
