A drawing of a greylag goose. It's is a wild bird, but is usually accustomed to people, and can be quite tame. I saw this fine specimen in Abington Park, Northampton.

A small group of wild geese resting on Holywell Pond in Northumberland. The pond is run by Northumberland Wildlife Trust and sees many wild birds at different times of the year. This particular group consists of mainly Greylag Geese with a couple of Canada Geese seemingly lost in the middle.

Canon Rebel T3i Greylag Goose is an Old World Goose species belonging to the Anser genus. The name is spelled as Graylag Goose in the US. It is the only wild Goose species that can be seen throughout the year in the United States.Their name “Greylag” is derived from the fact that they are the last Goose species to migrate and each year they “lag” behind the other Geese. A few Greylag Geese in flight near Holywell Pond in Northumberland. These geese were part of a very large flock near the pond which is maintained by The Northumberland Wildlife Trust.

Nikon D5200; lens: AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm These two lovely greylag geese seemed to have an argument when I arrived on the scene. The left one walked decisively out of the water leaving its mate alone.

Nikon D5200; lens: AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm I was able to photographed this lovely goose from above while walking on a bridge in Geneva, Switzerland. I like the harmonious orange and brown coloring of this bird, apparently a type of greylag goose.
