Imperial Point Magnets

This is an image captured from Point Imperial in the Grand Canyon National Park. It seems that Point Imperial is the highest lookout in the park at close to 9000 feet above sea-level. You certainly are a long way up, but just look at the landscape, it is remarkable.

When you make plans to visit the Grand Canyon, always plan on more than one day. You never know what sort of weather you might encounter. This is a view from Point Imperial taken in August, 2014. There were lightning storms the day before, and a beautiful sunset. It rained all night and in the morning the entire canyon was filled with one big cloud. The cloud didn't start to lift until after 4PM. Those that stopped by for a day trip were awfully disappointed. I didn't think I'd get any good shots on the hike on the Point Imperial trail, and didn't want to get water in the lenses of my new 645Z, so I took my trusty Pentax MX-1, and got some good shots anyway.
