A mash-up of passions.

The Rocket was a free biweekly newspaper based in Seattle and serving the Pacific Northwest from 1979 to 2000. The newspaper's chief purpose was to document local music. This focus distinguished it from other area weeklies such as the Seattle Weekly and the Willamette Week, which reported more on local news and politics. By 1982, the paper’s circulation had grown to 50,000 copies per month and managed to attract nationally known writers and cartoonists as contributors. The staff attempted to cover only obscure alternative bands, but the publisher continued to insist that mainstream material be given equal time. The editorial team agreed to do so, but only if they could trash the mainstream acts a little in the articles.

Life is Strange Max's Journal Beaver Sticker

As the van craze of the '70s began was waning, Van World Magazine decided to expand their reach by retooling themselves as Van, Pickup, and Off-Road World Magazine. As the mouthful of a name might imply, the magazine still carried some van-related content, but the magazine largely shifted focus and embraced the growing interest in pickup trucks and off-roading. Coverage included new vehicle tests, reader's rides, how-to pieces, and occasional coverage of racing events and shows. Numbering continued from Van World, and a total of 11 issues were printed between May 1979 and March 1980 before the title was shelved.

Amerika was a Russian-language magazine published by the United States Department of State during the Cold War for distribution in the Soviet Union. It was intended to inform Soviet citizens about American life. Amerika was distinguished among other Soviet publications by its high-grade paper, bright printing and numerous photos. The magazine has been described as "polite propaganda" and featured high-quality photography and articles about everyday life in the United States, as well as profiles of famous American people and institutions. Later it briefly existed as America Illustrated. In total, 454 issues of the magazine were published.
