Little Egret Magnets

I don't know why I titled as such I just liked the sound of it... A little egret looks into the shallow water as he fishes...

Another magic moment when the light on the subject matter was just right and the background isolates just perfectly. This 'little egret' sat at first light awaiting breakfast, moments later, a small fish between its beak. Truly a magic moment!

Everything in life is interconnected... Whatever we do in the universe creates ripples somewhere else in life ~ so be careful and mindful of what you say, what you do, how you affect your environment - because ultimately it affects the environment around you and all others in your vicinity and leaves impressions for the future. This 'little egret' agitates the water for good reason... it is necessary for the welfare of its own being - nothing more. Consider what's necessary and try everyday to make good judgement of requirements for yourself and others.

This Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) was photographed near the mouth of the River Wansbeck in Northumberland in April 2015. This beautiful pure white bird was taking a break from fishing when the photograph was taken and the calm conditions were ideal for the reflection of the bird on the water.

Watching a group of little white egrets fishing, I honed in and focussed on just the one which was carefully agitating the shallow waters with its feet... Occasionally he would change direction, his movements deliberate and delicate, so as not to disturb the catch... It was a combination of the early morning rising light, reflection in the water and such a graceful pose - just for a second... before another movement - that inspired this shot. It was taken with a hybrid camera system and I have worked the image in post to soften image and create a more silky and serene effect... I find the shape and stance quite beautiful and a more unusual capture... almost like a ballerina..!

A beautifully white egret gently pads its feet to disturb fish from the shallows.
