Since a big part of my family is from here I wanted to include it my flags collection. The Surinamese flag consists 5 of five bands. The two on the top and bottom are green. Next comes a smaller white band. In the middle there's a red band with a golden star. In this design the star is put slightly to a side.

A lot of people don't know on what continent this country is placed. Well it's the only Dutch speaking nation in (mainland) South America. (Even though a larger part of people prefer to speak a creole called Sranang Tongo) Since a big part of my family is from there I wanted to include it my flags collection. Isn't it a beautiful flag?
