A bait and fishing gear shed awaits the spring thaw. A painting inspired from memories of the east coast fishing villages of Canada.

Huntington Beach was certainly a busy place, even on the Tuesday morning we spent there. Beach volleyballers jumped around in the sand nearby as surfers clad in wetsuits braved the waves on both sides of the pier. I liked standing underneath the pier though, watching the waves crashing towards me as the noise of the world around me died away.

A couple take a stroll on Mount Batten Pier, Plymouth - and are caught by the rays of the sun setting behind them. The breakwater, in Plymouth Sound, shelters parts of the historic port. Mountbatten was a RAF flying boat base from 1917 to 1992.

The moon rises and the sun sets over the river, capping an end of the day in Au Train, Michigan.

I took the reference photo for 'Love to be fishing' on the Altona Jetty, Melbourne. The jetty was built in the 1800s and unfortunately needs to be replaced because of its deterioration and public safety concerns. I think the weathered structure is a piece of art and contrasts well with the green waters below. I often think I would love to be fishing when walking on a jetty and wonder if there are many fish under the surface and if they are biting. It is mesmerising and calming to look at the water, watching shapes, ripples and patterns created .
