Thames At Benson Magnets

A view of the River Thames as we cross over the weir at Benson in Oxfordshire, This is part of the Thames Path National Trail. Behind us the river flows on to Wallingford where this walk started - and ahead is the town of Abingdon and the city of Oxford. However, immediately ahead on this walk is a riverside bistro - a lovely place to sit and relax with a coffee and pastry before retracing our steps.

Here we are just above the weir and lock - seen in the background and are just next door to The Waterside cafe and bistro - a lovely place to sit and look at the river. Benson is as well known perhaps for its RAF station just across the main road from here. A walk across the weir and lock along the Thames Path takes us to the ancient market town of Wallingford.
