1st Admin Coy 20 Oct 1965 – 15 Apr 1970. 1st Infantry Division was sent to Vietnam Jul 1965, followed by the remainder of the division in Oct 1965. The division was forced to leave its assigned tank battalions behind, and its mechanized infantry battalions were reorganized as infantry. Two battalions were reorganized as mechanized while the division was in Vietnam. The division served in the III CTZ, with headquarters at Bien Hoa (Oct 1965 – Jan 966), Di An (Feb 1966 – Jan 1967), Di An and Lai Khe (Feb – Sep 1967), Lai Khe (Oct 1967 – Oct 1969) and Di An again (Nov 1969 – Apr 1970). Company I, 75th Infantry (Ranger) 1 February 1969 7 April 1970 Company F (LRP), 52nd Infantry 1st Infantry Division (Vietnam) The Ranger companies were composed of small, heavily armed long range reconnaissance teams that patrolled deep in enemy-held territory. Each independent company was attached to a division or separate brigade and acted as the eyes and ears of those units. Rangers collected intelligence, discovered enemy troop locations, surveilled trails and enemy hot spots, directed artillery and air strikes, did bombing damage assessment, performed ambushes, and sniper attacks.

During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, all three Ranger Battalions were assigned to a new Task Force. It was based on the concept of a prior successful Task Force, and its task was to seize key locations, long distance Special Reconnaissance and capturing HVTs. On 24 March 2003, 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment conducted a combat drop onto H-1 Air Base, securing the site as a staging area for operations in western Iraq. On 1 April 2003, 290 Rangers from 1/75th and 2/75th took part in the rescue of PFC Jessica Lynch; also that day Delta Force and 3/75th captured the Haditha Dam and held it for a further 5 days.
