This beautiful digital artwork of Zion National Park’s Virgin River and the Watchman as seen from the Canyon Junction Bridge at sunset is a wonderful way to remember or look forward to a memorable family summer vacation in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Virgin is a very small town in located in Washington County along the Virgin River in Utah, not far from Zion National Park.. The population was 596 in the 2010 census. What is interesting about this town is that in May 2000, a law was passed which required every homeowner to keep and maintain a firearm. This was highlighted in Michael Moore's 2002 film Bowling for Columbine. Exceptions to this law include the mentally ill, convicted felons, conscientious objectors and people who cannot afford to own a gun. Hope you like this. All images are Copyright © 2015 Hany G. This is an image of the Virgin River, close to where it flows near the park lodge in Zion National Park, Utah. The mountain scenery in the park is vast and stunning, but a simple walk by the river reveals so much of that beauty. As in so much of Utah, the reddy-orange sandstone dominates the landscape, but to complete the primary colours, you also have the yellow-green of the trees and the deep blue of the sky. It was a lovely day for a walk.

As a photographer on a hike, I always want to see what's around the next bend or what's behind those dense bushes and how high can I climb that hill before I kill myself.... You get the idea. And when you're traveling with a camera in hand and a tripod in the other and a camera bag on your back that weighs a ton, it's not that easy to do any of the above. Well in this case I kept following the Virgin River along its winding path until I could go no more, unless I risk either getting really wet or getting really killed (LOL). One of the things I like "being there" is the ability to visit (or in this case, hike) the same area under different lighting conditions. I was fortunate enough to stay overnight in a motel very close to Zion National Park, which essentially allowed me to hike various spots at different times of the day - early morning, late morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, and into the night time. Zion Riverwalk Hike - 2 by Debra Martz This hike is a two mile round trip that follows the river. Where this hike ends, the Narrows hike begins. If you are willing to get your feet wet...and often deeper...you can continue if the weather permits. We hiked to where the Narrows begins but only imagined what it would be like to continue. I had the pleasure of hiking through various sections of Zion National Park twice - early afternoon to late evening and then early morning the next day.
