Stretching north and south of the harbor town of Dover, the famed White Cliffs lining the Straits of Dover have been to the English for a thousand years the place where home begins. A Fort Victoria class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) Ship of the British Royal Fleet Auxiliary off the coast of the Mull of Galloway, Scotland. May 2021. RFA Fort Victoria is a Fort-class combined fleet stores ship and tanker of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tasked with providing ammunition, fuel, food and other supplies to Royal Navy vessels around the world. She is now the only member of her class. Her sister ship Fort George was decommissioned in 2010 as part of budget cuts in the Navy. In the foreground are the fearless clifftop sheep :)

Scratchell's Bay, Isle of Wight Number of views as of 9th May 2018 = 390. Situated just South East of The Needles and facing the English Channel, the name Scratchell's Bay is thought to come from one of many names for the Devil. There is no way down to the shingle beach from the cliff top, it can only be reached by boat. The bay has been the site of many shipwrecks, including that of the Irex in 1890. The Irex was a new full-rigged sailing ship, bound from Glasgow to Rio de Janeiro with a cargo of iron pipes. After being battered by storms for 20 days, first in the Irish Sea and then in the Bay of Biscay and with some of the crew injured and a shifted cargo, the captain decided to seek shelter. Royal AIr Force Hurricane P3700 coded RF-E tustles with a Luftwaffe BF 109 over Southern England. Sgt Kazimierz Wunsche bailed out over Poynings, Kent on 9th September 1940 after sustaining damage from a Bf 109 during combat over Beachy Head.

The warren beach at Folkestone is the one the tourist don't see, but the locals know. Its surrounded by natural scrubland, and that in turn is ringed by the white cliffs of Dover. Its a very natural place considering the size of Folkestone (Kent, UK) that lies just out of sight behind the viewer. In the distance is Samphire Hoe - a flat piece of land below the cliffs created from the spoil from digging the channel tunnel. This version is painted in oil on a 12 x 12 inch board, based on photos I've taken of the area.
