The Windsor Town Bridge crossing the River Thames, linking Windsor and Eton in Berkshire, England. River transport was always important here particularly with the royal palace at Windsor. There has been a bridge on this site since at least the C12th when records show tolls of the equivalent of £4.33 being paid to a landowner, Osbert de Bray, for boats passing beneath the bridge. The present bridge with cast iron arches was opened in 1824. In 1970 it was made pedestrian only as it was now too weak for heavy traffic. Even pedesrian traffic took its toll on the structure so it was refurbished and reopened by the Queen in June 2002. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The geese are suspiciously looking the camera when it is getting closer to them. It is a sunny Sunday morning at the banks river Thames in Windsor and people are enjoying feeding the birds.

King’s Coronation / 6th May 2023 / Mission Accomplished (Red)

A view across the River Thames in the county of Berkshire, from Eton to the buildings clustered on the Windsor bank. Towering above the riverside houses are the buildings of Windsor Castle and in particular the famous Round Tower. The tower sits on an artificial mound or 'motte', the original being built by Henry II in c1170. The present tower is a remodelling under George IV in the 1820s. From an original Engraving from the Illustrated London News December 1848 The publication of this image spread the use of Christmas Trees like wildfire, and led wrongly to the belief that Albert had introduced the Christmas Tree to Britain. It was actually Queen Charlotte, the German born wife of George III, for a party she held in 1800 Please note there may be some age related marks from the original which will show also on any print ordered. This is inevitable with prints of this age & actually lends an authentic look to the print in my opinion.
