In the episode, the Doctor's Wife, by Neil Gaiman, the soul of the Tardis is sucked out of the tardis and put into a woman named Idris. She's finally able to talk to the Doctor, and she says "Are you going to steal me. You have stolen me. You are stealing me. Oh! Tenses are difficult, aren’t they?"

Some of my favorite moments of Doctor Who is when the Doctor gets properly angry, because he becomes so dangerous. I think this quote is a good life lesson too - you really messed up if you angered a good man.

Masks are cool!

This was my first Doctor Who painting. I was watching a short webisode prior to the ‘Bells of St. John.’ At this time, the Doctor had lost the Ponds and had two strange encounters with the impossible girl. He was alone. Drifting lazily on a swing. I’d been struggling with my own loneliness for years following my divorce. Here, the Doctor captured how I’d been feeling, so I decided to paint it because I wanted it on my wall. This led me to paint others. Less than a year later, my walls were covered with Doctor Who paintings.

In the episode of "Vincent and the Doctor," Amy Pond surprising Van Gogh with a garden full of sunflowers, hinting that maybe he'd like to paint them. Van Gogh remarks that sunflowers are always somewhere between living and dying, half-human as they lean towards the sun. And that he finds them a bit disgusting, but a challenge. It's one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who, in part because the story expresses mental illness in a very real way that resonates with me. But also, because I'm an artist heavily influenced by Van Gogh.

Everyone loved Matt Smith's portrayal of the 11th doctor, he of the boundless enthusiasm (and the fish fingers and custard). Celebrate his catch phrase on a variety of products.

The Eleventh Doctor always has his head in the stars, while he tries to escape the timey wimey vortex. He dreams of running, even though he already is. No version available without background, because I'm a moron who merged all the layers before transparent export.
