The Gadsden Flag has become the main symbol of libertarianism. For libertarians, the existence of the State would be completely unnecessary, because, in their conception, "taxes are theft" because we do not have the option of not paying and because there is no guarantee that the tax money will be used in the best way and destined to those who really need it. Furthermore, taxes would be an undue charge because they are services not contracted by citizens. Would you pay for a service provided that you did not request?
