Eucalyptus, the iconic evergreen tree with deep roots in the Australian continent, was the inspiration for this seamless botanical themed pattern. I imagined myself in the eucalyptus forest, enjoying the strong fragrance, watching the landscape slowly change as it clung to the last hour of sunlight, catching shadows and fading colours..

Eucalyptus, the iconic evergreen tree with deep roots in the Australian continent, was the inspiration for this seamless botanical themed pattern. The color palette used for this pattern is very soft in pastel shades of green, yellow, brown and coral on dark violet background. I associate this color scheme with Bilibin intricate illustrations from my childhood books with folklore fairy tales - the most treasured possession at the time.. I could spend hours studying every detail.. I think these colours create depth and mysterious atmosphere of a magical place inhabited by strange creatures - so I called this artwork 'Mysterious Eucalyptus Forest'..

Beautiful Eucalyptus leucoxylon 'Rosea' with fantastic deep scarlet flowers was the inspiration for this seamless floral pattern. 'Rosea' is endemic to Australia and is strictly coastal in the south-east of South Australia and adjacent areas of western Victoria. Eucalyptus as if created for midnight inspirations.I imagined myself in the eucalyptus grove at midnight, counting stars, enjoying the strong fragrance, catching shadows and faded colours..

I just had some offcuts of water colour paper, so I thought I should find a use for them and started experimenting with some leafy doodles. They came out much better than I expected! This was one of my favourites. The cool minty green colour on the white background gives this artwork a clean, modern look.
