In November 1990, following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, more than 6,000 3rd Infantry Division men and women deployed with the 1st Armored Division on Operation Desert Storm as part of the Allied Coalition. The 2nd and 3rd battalions served in the Battle of 73 Easting and the Battle of Norfolk.
