The Great Ridge of Edale which includes Mam Tor, Hollins Cross, Back Tor and Lose Hill.The Great Ridge is a huge ridge which separates the vales of Edale and Castleton and runs for approximately 2 miles.

This picture, executed in Staedtler Karat Aquarell watercolour pencils, shows a view of the iconic Mam Tor Gate above Castleton in the Peak District. Mam Tor (hill) is known locally as "The Shivering Mountain", as its loose shale leads to frequent landslides. It's a great place for hikers, providing great views of Edale Valley and Hope Valley, and the remains of the Iron Age hill fort on the top of the tor, with its encircling ramparts below. In the summer, the abundant heather blankets the whole area in purple. This picture shows sunrise on a summer morning.
