"Gaita" is how they call these beautiful traditional boats (flat bottomed) of the lagoon of Mesolonghi (Aitolia & Akarnania, Central Greece), one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in whole Greece. Fishing is one of the most important financial resourses of the region.

This is a photo from Mesolonghi, from the lagoon of Mesolonghi, to be more precise. Mesolonghi is a very important town, with a great history. It is the only town of Greece, declared "Hiera Polis" (Sacred town)because of the heroic fight of its inhabitants during the years of the Greek strugle for Indipendance agains the Ottoman Empire (more about it in the very near future).
