I know I've said it before, but it really is the little things that lift me up when I'm down. A hug from my baby, sunlight on my back, a fresh cup of coffee... I know, I know: clichés. But a cliché is a cliché because it's true, isn't it? : )

One of the best pieces of parenting advice I ever got was to smile at my children. There is nothing like a smiling mama to change the mood of the whole household. Try it, it's amazing. But the other day I was thinking that sometimes I need a visible reminder... I get so caught up in the daily chores and cares and forget to smile. I considered writing it on their foreheads with permanent marker, but I thought maybe tees would be more fun. : ) Gonna have to order 10 of these. (And maybe a sticker for my bathroom mirror so I remember to smile at myself, too.)

The individual elements that make up this pattern were hand drawn with felt tip markers, scanned and then composed into a repeat pattern in Photoshop. It is kind of like completing a puzzle with infinite outcomes... so much fun.

Lucky Irish St Patrick's day shamrock clover leaves in emerald green, purple and olive watercolor with a textured deep teal blue background, with a few hidden four leaf clovers thrown in.

Most days are better & brighter if you include kittens & flowers in them. : ) I drew this from a photograph I took long ago of one of our Cat kittens. Of course, in the photo he wasn't carrying daisies, but isn't that what is nice about drawing? you don't have to worry about what really is, anything is possible...

In my three year old's perfect world, all ducklings would be pink. (Actually, EVERYTHING would be pink.) Mila has been going on and on (and on) about wanting a pink duck shirt so eventually I caved and spent hours designing her this one, which has subsequently met with her Majesty's approval and which she will hopefully wear until it is all worn out. My Mom gave me a bunch of jonquils from her beautiful garden and of course I immediately wanted to make a pattern from them. Well. It was really hard. I started over numerous times and worked and worked and put it aside and worked on something else and came back and started over AGAIN and oh dear... This will have to do.
