The Grotto Mugs

This is my watercolor version of an emblem used by a fraternal group called The Grotto. The Grotto is known for being a fun bunch of guys who wear black fezzes and are devoted to philanthropy.

I created this design specifically for St. Patrick's Day with Grotto members in mind. Afterward I realized it could be appreciated year-round by a Grotto member who wished to express his "Irishness" any day (or night) he liked. :-)

The Blue Grotto

Walking along one of the beaches on the Oregon shores, I came across this "almost" hidden grotto, a very large mysterious cave-like indentation and opening at the bottom of the cliff, with a some water pooling in different spots at its base. This shows just how markedly and dramatically the tide can change along with the rugged beauty of the Oregon coastline. Exploring the outside and the inside of this place was just another wonderful experience. What a world of beauty. Hope you like this and the next few images from this place. Mark Ryden is an American artist known for his surreal and meticulously detailed paintings that often incorporate elements of pop culture, mythology, and religious symbolism. Born on January 20, 1963, in Medford, Oregon, Ryden developed a passion for art at a young age and went on to study illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

In my continuous effort to create "the new & different"... I pondered Grottoish. Yes Grottoish, an odd amalgamation of Grotto and Irish (St. Paddy's Day in mind) with a spin on the ever popular saying "Kiss me I'm Irish". Soooo... using my version/creation of The Grotto Mokannah, and some imagination, here is my addition to The Wearin' O' The Green attire for the Grotto man. :-)

Sea cave

Hands down, I believe The Algarve in southern Portugal is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I was blown away when I first saw this sight in Lagos. I cannot wait to go back (hopefully soon!).
