Volcanic Landscape, Lanzarote, May 2022 Little vegetation grows here in the volcanic landscape of Mount Timanfaya National Park, on the island of Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain). To protect the delicate eco-system, access to the park by the public is strictly controlled and regulated. The last significant volcanic eruptions here were in the 1730s, but a handful of gravel from a few centimetres below the surface still feels hot to the touch. Date: 15th May 2022.
