Fat Man atomic bomb blueprint. Developed by the US military, this was the second atom bomb used in warfare. It was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on 9th August 1945, detonating with the force of 21,000 tons of TNT. It destroyed an area several kilometres across, killing some 75,000 people. The bomb was an implosion type (some of the imploders shown at left and at centre) codenamed 'Fat Man' (Y-1561 F.M.).
