In medival times it was noted for spices and oriental cloth and, apparently, acts of piracy! Now it is a peaceful harbour for small boats.The marshes round about are a haven for wildlife. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.
