The season is turning! In the vineyard at Magpie Springs the boys are pruning madly - meanwhile others are busy too, flowers are opening and insects are making the most of it. Sometimes depending on the wine makers requirements,during vintage the machine harvester comes to pick. It has to be done at night. The fruit is bashed off the vine carried across on a conveyor belt to the next row where a tractor is towing large bins.... In the heat of the day the bruised fruit would start fermenting. This is the harvester - watching it working is quite a sight. For a year we had a piano down by the dam - it was decomposing. It was originally part of a sculptural installation by Australian artist Paloma Concierta consisting of 3 Pianos in a shopping centre arranged to facilitate musical conversation. It was the hottest day on record in South Australia January 24 2019. Birds of every variety flocked to any source of water to keep cool - at this particular moment finches and New Holland honey eaters. Adelaide reached 46.2C in the city - The Bureau of Meteorology said the first record to fall was at Minlaton, on the Yorke Peninsula, where the mercury reached 45.7C just after 11am on Thursday.
