The Sumatran tiger is a subspecies of tiger native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It’s the smallest of the tigers, possibly because it evolved on an isolated island habitat. The Sumatran tiger’s stripes are closer together and its fur is a darker orange than other subspecies, better allowing it to blend into its tropical rainforest habitat.

I photographed this beautiful Sumatran Tiger at The Big Cat sanctuary in Kent and he was literally about two feet away from me, believe me I was very thankful for the bars that separated us. I have given the image a Painterly look using PS and Topaz and textures. They are the smallest species of tiger and are critically endangered with less than 500 still living in the wild.
