Abingdon On Thames Pins and Buttons

Dating from the early C12th, it is notable for being the second widest church in England and having five aisles!

In Medieval times it was an important wool and woollen cloth producing town.

The road bridge over the River Thames at Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Abingdon is situated between Oxford and Didcot and was an important centre in medieval times, particularly because of the abbey of which a few buildings remain. The bridge in the image carries the road from the town centre to Dorchester-on-Thames. This image captured in late September with the first signs of autumn (or fall).
