The Asbury Park Sea Urchins were a minor league baseball team based in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1914. The Asbury Park team previously played as members of the 1897 New Jersey State League before the Urchins played a partial season as members of the 1914 Atlantic League. Minor league baseball play began in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1897, when the Asbury Park team played as members of the 1897 New Jersey State League. The league was a four–team Class D level league. The New Jersey State League was formed with teams in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Bridgeton, New Jersey and Millville, New Jersey joining Asbury Park as charter members.

Tilly is the unofficial mascot of Asbury Park, New Jersey. He is a familiar face in town and based on a real person. The face is on buildings all over town and on lots of merchandise--from books, to pencils, to stickers--lots of stickers. The real person behind the face was either instrumental in founding the city in the late 19th century, or a relative of such person. Either way, his image is alive and well at this storied Jersey Shore destination!

Asbury Park is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As Jerseyites say, "Down the Shore".

The Sunshine In (yes, one 'n' – it's an Aquarian thing) opened its doors as a concert venue in the summer of 1970 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Housed in an old concrete block building with a high wooden, open rafter type ceiling that used to be a municipal bus garage, the Sunshine was bare bones to say the least. The building stood on Kingsley Street, and despite having no bar, they did alright as a strict music venue as the block had bars a plenty, and concert goers patronized them between sets. All told, the Sunshine In hosted countless acts between 1970 and 1974, many of them bands and singers that remain well known today. The venue had a unique sound that can still be experienced through live recordings from various concerts.
