Bakewell Town, Derbyshire, Peak District, England The Derbyshire town of Bakewell started as a Saxon settlement. It was called Beadeca’s wella, which meant Beadeca’s springs. Baedeca must have been a Saxon who settled by the warm springs which rise at Bakewell where limestone meets shale. Bakewell was mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, a kind of national diary in 924. At that time King Edward the Elder ordered that a fort should be built at Bakewell.

Bakewell is a market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, known also for its local Bakewell pudding. It lies on the River Wye, about 13 miles south-west of Sheffield. In the 2011 census, the population of the civil parish appeared as 3,949. It was estimated at 3,695 in 2019. The town is close to the tourist attractions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

This lovely is Bakewell Tart! Based off a a yummy iced pastry based bakewell tart. Adorned with a cherry. I came up with these Sweet Fairies a couple of years ago, and they are an ongoing project. I have 29 completed so far of all sorts of sweet treats from lots of different cultures (well I think so anyways). They are all in the style of a waitress/ maid for an extra cute factor.

Padlocks On love Lock Bridge, Bakewell, England I was unaware there was a lovelock bridge at Bakewell in the Peak Districk, UK, England. I knew and have seen the one in Paris and although this one is not on that scale, it is impressive nonetheless. I took this close up of the locks as I like to fill the frame especially for jigsaw puzzles and the like.
