Brian Froud Pins and Buttons

Acrylics on Canvas 2016 This piece is largely inspired by the works of Brian Froud, one of my favourite artists. In it, a face grows from the darkness – the face of the faerie Queen of Autumn, who turns the leaves golden and orange and signals one of the four transitions of the year. In a way, the Autumn and Winter months bring a more drastic change than that of Spring and Summer, and perhaps Autumn the most change of all. As such, this Faerie would of course symbolise change, transitions, new directions. She is the herald of the harvest, of reaping what you sow; she would appear to those who would be stuck “in a rut”, in need of a new course, and her presence indicates that perhaps it’s time to collect your harvest and start anew ...
