Rectangular GeoSphere satellite mosaic image of the whole Earth centred on the Pacific Ocean. Colours in land areas show natural tones, sea colours give an impression of water temperatures (light blue = cool, dark blue = warm). This is a composite of thousands of images made by the NOAA series of weather satellites. Each image was selected for lack of cloud cover and the representation of the surface colours. The selected images were then merged as a database using a graphics supercomputer which allows any view of the planet to be generated.

If you make your way from the area around the Uffizi museum in Florence to the Ponte Vecchio, you'll walk along the Lungarno Degli Archibusieri, a covered, collonaded walkway built by the Medici family. In this image, I've tried to capture the architectural whimsy of the successive arches, each the same as the one before it but diminished in visual scale creating a tunnel-like appearance. In reality, there were hundreds of people walking before me, but all you need to do is look slightly up to appreciate this simple architectural gem.
