The smell of freshly mown hay is in the air and beautiful rolls of hay are to be seen everywhere, ready for storage as summer stockfeed. I completed this painting last weekend (29/11/09) and was pleased with the way it turned out. I imagined her as a beloved figure of integrity a caretaker of the land and her legacy.

Soft pastel on black colourfix sanded paper. This is a typical Ontario farm scene in Autumn, my favourite season of the year. I love the varying rusts and golds of the grasses and the magnificent blues in the sky each making the other more rich by their relationship. I am loving the pastels and the depth of colour that can be achieved.
