Seen from the Thames path between Marlow and Henley-on-Thames, the church of All Saints in the riverside village of Bisham in Berkshire, just upstream of the National Sports Centre. The Grade 2 listed church dates from the 12th century, the oldest remaining part being the tower. A digital drawing from my original photograph.

The church of St Nicholas at Remenham in Berkshire. This picturesque church and the suirrounding houses of the village sit close to the banks of the River Thames.The Thames Path (a long distamce trail) passes close by. Remenham is also close to the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course at Temple Island. The church is Norman in origin and records exist of the first rector in 1076. It also received a mention in the Domesday Book (1086). However, the building as we see it dates from 1870.

People enjoy boating on Henley on Thames

A large vintage boat moored on the bank of the River Thames at Henley in Oxfordshire. This lovely old boat is almost a floating garden with containers of plants on the deck! The image was captured on a walk along the Thames Path at Henley going upstream towards Marsh Lock and weir. Across the river is the Berkshire bank of the river with the road from Henley to Wargrave-on-Thames. This is a digital coloured pencil drawing developed from my original photograph.

Temple Island is a small island or eyeot standing in the River Thames between Buckinghamshire and Berkshire near the village of Remenham, Berkshire. It marks the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course. The 'temple' was designed by James Wyatt in 1771 as a fishing lodge for nearby Fawley Court. In the 1980s it was purchased by Henley Royal Regatta and has now been restored to its former glory and is now used for corporate events. The downstream area of the island is a nature reserve. The watermill at Hambleden on the River Thames between Henley and Marlow in Buckinghamshire. This picturesque, Grade 2 listed old mill has a long history, having been mentioned in the Domesday Book when the the rental value was £1 per year! Its location is the appropriately named Mill End, where the fast flowing Hambleden Bourne discharges into the Thames. Immediately below it is the weir, one of the longest on the Thames. From here the Chiltern Hills gradually rise to the north. Nikon D7000

The regatta course for the Henley Royal Regatta. Along the towpath (aka the Thames Path) at Remenham in Berkshire, is a post marked for a quarter of a mile. The regatta coiurse is 1 mile 550 yards long and starts just downstream from Temple Island (in the background), finishing just downstream of Henley Bridge. Temple Island, seen here, is named after its folly, built as a fishing lodge in 1771. It is now owned by Henley Royal Regatta and is used for corporate events etc. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

This could be called the 'home of rowing' as it is here each july that the world-famous Henley Royal Regatta takes place. This image was captured as preparations for the event were in progress. The races are run between Temple Island and a finishiung line just downstream of Henley Bridge - a distance of 1 mile 550 yards.
