Jesmond Pins and Buttons

Jesmond Dene is located on the outskirts of Newcastle Upon Tyne City Centre. Through the dene flows a small river known as Ouseburn. The dene itself is in a narrow valley with steep sides enclosing it. The Ouseburn flows to meet the River Tyne. The name Jesmond means mouth of the Ouseburn. Within the dene are a number of water features - ponds, weirs, rapids and waterfalls, all created by Lord Armstrong in order to bring a sense of movement to the Ouseburn.
