Seeing gorillas in person in Kigale National Park, Uganda, was a real treat. They were so much more sublime, slow, and gentle than I would have expected. Unfortunately, they've been given a bad reputation which they do not deserve.

Silver Back Male Mountain Gorilla, Gorilla gorilla beringei, Hirwa Group. This is the leader of the family and the group is named after him. This is a group of 22 individuals with three Silver Backs. The top Silver Back leads the family through the jungle and has mating rights with all the females. Kinigi, Volcanoes National Park, also known as Virunga National Park, Rwanda, East Africa. This was one of many gorillas in a group that we were able to spend an hour with in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Uganda. We didn't even need to hike very far to see this amazing group and spend quality time with them. It's an experience I recommend to everyone!

I never saw Frankenstein or King Kong or the Creature from the Black Lagoon as bad guys. They were the good guys.
