Wright brothers Kitty Hawk glider. Test flight by US aviation pioneer Wilbur Wright (1867-1912) of the 1902 glider built and flown by the Wright brothers Orville and Wilbur on beaches near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA. Wilbur is making a right turn in this glide from Number 2 Hill. The Wrights carried out a series of glider tests from 1900 to 1902, prior to their first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine (17 December 1903). This glider design included a rebuilt rudder. It had a length of 4.9 metres and a wingspan of 9.8 metres. Hundreds of glides took place in 1902, the longest of 190 metres took 26 seconds. A rocky headland on the Welsh Coastal Path affectionately referred to as Thurba Head. There are many many headlands and rocky outcrops along the Welsh coast, many of which are unnamed but not Thurba Head.

The old and new RNLI lifeboat stations in St Justinians, St Davids, pembrokeshire. Only one lifeboat station is used and the other one is under a preservation order.
