Remember the Paris Commune, the first socialist revolution in human history, which lasted from 18 March 1871 to 28 May 1871.

This refinished, remastered, and now colored design comes from Walter Crane's sketch commemorating the Paris Commune, typically seen with the subtitle "An English Tribute To The French Commune Dedicated To The Workers Of Both Countries" The original version was an ink sketch, which is also available on my store. According to historian Adolphe Thiers, the President of the Paris Commune, Pierre Gaspard Chaumette, gave a speech to the city on 14 October 1793 (during the Reign of Terror), in which he said: Rousseau était peuple aussi, et il disait: Quand le peuple n'aura plus rien à manger, il mangera le riche. Rousseau, who was also one of the people, said: When the people shall have no more to eat, they will eat the rich! Some people think "Let's get this bread" represents the daily grind. But it originated with the French Revolution. On July 14, 1789 (Bastille Day), French workers and common people chanted, “Allons chercher ce pain” -- “let us go get this bread." For us, this phrase means the philosophy of Mutual Aid -- that if we all help each other and work together, no one has to starve.
