Reddy Kilowatt is a fictional character that acted as spokesman for electricity generation in the United States for over 70 years. He is drawn as a stick figure whose body, limbs, and hair are made of stylized lightning bolts and whose bulbous head has a light bulb for a nose and wall outlets for ears. His primary purpose was to put a friendly face on the newfangled electrical systems that were commonplace in the cities in the 1920s, but rural areas remained chronically underserved as people had many misconceptions about electricity. In 1930 almost 90 percent of farms in the United States were still without access to electric service, so new messaging targeting farmers were deployed to win over skeptical rural residents.

Terni’s General Store was founded in 1919 by Italian immigrant, Leopoldo Terni, in the rural village of Millerton in Dutchess County, New York. Checking out the local feed store in my home area. My dog "Lucky" posing, added life to the scene. (Such a good boy!) In my area, despite growth of new housing on farmlands, business such as this are still an important part of serving the agriculture community. Support my art. A country scene combining a hay baler and bales. This caught my eye to create this image in the area of Creemore in Central Ontario. The baler is used to compress cut and windrow crops such as hay, or silage into compact bales that are easy to handle and transport from the field. The stored bales are used as feed throughout the year for livestock. This is actually a vintage baler that makes smaller round bales than the much larger ones in the background. I grew up on a farm and used such a baler. It was a noisy machine that shook rattled and rolled with lots of belts and pulleys. The rolled bales were left to cure in the field to dry before being collected om to a wagon and hauled to the barn. If the hay was stored still wet, hea...
