If you were a rocker in Seattle in the '70s and '80s, you probably had one of these in your closet...

Flipper was an American punk band formed in San Francisco, California in 1979, continuing in often erratic fashion until the mid-1990s. Their slowed-down, bass-driven and heavily distorted style of punk influenced a number of grunge, punk rock and noise rock bands.

The first Skate King opened in Bellevue, Washington the day after Thanksgiving in 1974. Skate King Burien opened in 1975 followed by Tacoma in 1976 and Kirkland in 1977. In 1979, Skate King Kent opened and then in in 1980 they opened two centers in eastern Washington - Kennewick and Spokane. Over the years roller skating died off and as such, Skate King began closing locations over the years and before you knew it, the original Bellevue location was the last one standing until it too met it's end in 2015.

If you head to 192nd and Aurora Avenue North in what is now the City of Shoreline, you would have no idea that it was home to a go-kart track right on the corner during the '60s. Kart Pike Go Kart Track opened in the early '60s and was apparently still up and running at the end of the decade in this unincorporated North Seattle area. No idea what a few laps cost back then, but odds are it was good, clean fun with minimal spend.

This Pacific Northwest valley girl has been warming her buns atop this picture-perfect cheeseburger since 1975.

The Colourbox opened their doors in 1991 at 113 1st Ave S in Pioneer Square, right as the 'Seattle sound' began blowing up national charts and the local music scene exploded. Located in the Terry-Denny Building, the venue was a small space that gave emerging artists a high visibility location to play. With a low stage and a long bar serving stiff drinks, the Colourbox was an intimate space with surprisingly good sound that saw countless acts throughout the club's near decade long run. Owned by a notorious slumlord, the rent was cheap, but the owner's lack of maintenance was the club's ultimate undoing as the building's ancient pipes routinely failed, causing raw sewage to back up into the restrooms, which wasn't exactly good for business.

During the late '80s and early '90s, music lovers with eclectic tastes were more than happy to label themselves as 'losers' via shirts that projected inward, and pre-empted insults likely hurled by mainstream music fans. Radiating outward from the burgeoning Seattle music scene, you could easily run into fellow losers just about anywhere in the world, which only reinforced just how much of a loser you weren't.
